A gold head grade of at least 0.4g/t is required to make waste rock sorting economically viable.
With a mobile TOMRA Sorting Solutions plant running at a capacity of 70 tph high grade gold bearing reefs are separated from waste rock like lava and quartzite of +16/-75 mm. The result: Nearly all gold is recovered with only 0.08 g/t remaining. Besides for recovery of gold from waste dumps, the sorting technology is used to remove stones containing pyrite to prevent ground water contamination. Applications:
